Where next?
CHEX will continue to work at a number of levels on promoting and evidencing the valuable contribution community-led, preventative approaches make to improving mental health and wellbeing and tackling health inequalities.
In particular, we’ll be exploring opportunities arising from Scotland's Population Health Framework and Health and Social Care Service Renewal Framework, which were jointly published by the Scottish Government and COSLA in June 2025. Both Frameworks state that their focus is on tackling the root causes of poor health, reducing inequalities and building a more sustainable, person-led and community-focused health and social care system for Scotland.
We’re also looking forward to seeing findings from the Common Health Assets programme, which is cross-UK, multi-partner study of how, and in what circumstances, community-led organisations can impact health and wellbeing in disadvantaged areas. CHEX’s parent organisation, Scottish Community Development Centre had a role in this research in an advisory capacity.
