Wednesday 31st January 2024, 10am - 3pm at the Edinburgh Conference and Training Centre

This learning event is an opportunity for anyone working to improve health and wellbeing for individuals, communities and at a population level to explore how community-led health is part of your work in tackling inequalities.

We know the impact health inequalities have across Scotland, and how these avoidable differences impact health outcomes between different people and groups.

Community-led health helps to tackle these inequalities by bringing people together in their communities and supporting them to take action on what’s important to them – leading to increased health, wellbeing and influence through collective action.

Hosted by CHEX on behalf of Public Health Scotland, this interactive, participative session will:

  • Introduce community-led health and explore how this approach supports Scotland's ambitions to reduce health inequalities.

  • Set out the social model of health and how it works in practice.

  • Explore the community development value base and principles that underpin this approach.

  • Examine the current policy context in Scotland and where community-led approaches fit.

  • Help you think about the opportunities to deliver this approach in your work.

  • Share the key resources and tools you need to take the next step.
