SCDC Appoints New Chair

The Scottish Community Development Centre, which CHEX is a part of, is delighted to announce the appointment of Angela Morgan as Chair of its Board of Trustees.

Angela is well known and respected both in her role as Chief Executive of Includem, a charity which supports young people across Scotland with complex needs and also as member of a number of government policy and strategy groups.

These include the National Youth Justice Strategy Group, the Strategic Group for the Centre for Excellence for Looked After Children, and the Children’s Hearing Improvement Partnership. She is also a Governor of The Donaldson Trust and School and a Board Member and Treasurer of the Coalition of Care and Support Providers Scotland.

Fiona Garven, SCDC Director, said

“I am so pleased that Angela Morgan is to become our new Chair. She brings wide experience, enthusiasm and shared values to our work.

“Her leadership will be crucial as we move forward to deliver our own strategy in support of our mission to build strong, resilient and healthy communities in Scotland.”

Angela Morgan added:

“I am delighted to be joining the centre and look forward to working with them as they develop their strategy and move forward the whole agenda around community development.

“I chose to move from a career in mainstream social work to the third sector because of the opportunities it presents to work in a more focused and flexible way.

“That experience has informed my understanding of the importance of communities to the individuals who live in them – whatever their circumstances or challenges.”
