Read the final version of the Community Empowerment Bill

The final version of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Bill is now available to download from the Scottish Parliament website. The Bill was passed by MSPs on 17th June.

Community Development Alliance Scotland (CDAS) has written up a useful summary of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Bill's final debate and amendments. CDAS points to amendments regarding national outcomes, community planning, participation request and the community right to buy land.

The Bill provides a framework which aims to empower community bodies through the ownership of land and buildings, strengthen community voices in the decisions that matter to them and improve the process of community planning.  The Opinion and Debate section on the website of Scottish Community Development Centre (CHEX's parent organisation) contains background information and reflections on the Bill at various stages of its development.
