Pilton Community Health Project facing closure

One of CHEX’s longest and highly-regarded network member organisations, Pilton Community Health Project is facing closure having had a key source of funding withdrawn.

The project has been notified by Edinburgh’s Integrated Joint Board that it was unsuccessful in its application to Edinburgh Integration Joint Board Grant Programme 2019 – 2022. More news on this funding announcement can be found on the website of Edinburgh Voluntary Organisations’ Council (EVOC).

Community development approaches are vital to help build on community assets to increase overall wellbeing and health, preventing the need for expensive medical treatment further down the line.

It is of huge concern to CHEX to hear that a project which is of such value to its local community in improving health and wellbeing through community development approaches is now at risk of closure.

We will stay in contact with Pilton over coming weeks and months to offer any support and will be sharing any news of their campaign to stay open.

The campaign is already getting a lot of attention, and there will be a community meeting to discuss how to challenge the decision tomorrow (Thursday 13th December) at 10am at Granton Hub, 33 Granton Park Avenue. Use the #savepchp and follow Pilton on Twitter to keep up to date.
