Community Empowerment (Scotland) Bill event

The Scottish Government is consulting on a draft Community Empowerment (Scotland) Bill and other related proposals. This event is a chance for people from all sectors of society to learn more about the proposals and discuss their reactions to the consultation, which ends 24 January 2014.

The event will takep place on Thursday, 12 December 2013, 10.30am - 1pm (Registration and snack - 10am), at Southside Community Centre, 117 Nicolson Street, Edinburgh EH8 9ER

We shall hear from Derek MacKay, Minister for Local Government and Planning, and Alasdair McKinlay, team leader, community empowerment unit, Scottish Government. We shall also look at different topics raised by the consultation with the help of these people:

  • Asset Transfer – Linda Gillespie, Development Trusts Association Scotland
  • Community Planning and local democracy – Ruchir Shah, SCVO
  • Land Reform – Jon Hollingdale, Community Woodlands Association
  • Participation Requests and capacity building – Fiona Garven, CDAS & SCDC

This is a free event, but places are limited and advance registration is essential (maximum three places per organisation).
