Community Development Manager (Secondment) - The Gannochy Trust

The Gannochy Trust are seeking an enabler and a facilitator who is passionate about people and communities and who is able to support the potential of individuals and groups, identifying gaps and barriers and supporting tenants, groups and organisations to take action.  

You will have a track record of working in communities to facilitate, encourage, motivate and inspire.  We are seeking an exceptional individual who can work ‘on the ground’ but who can also take that learning and knowledge to a high strategic level.

You will work with the Chief Executive to explore ways of maximising the Trust’s impact, assets and resources to build and invest in opportunities for the benefit of the people of Perth.

Specific duties are likely to include some of the following:

  • Explore a range of participatory opportunities to empower tenants with the aim of increasing community engagement, identifying local assets and supporting and promoting community activism and engagement, particularly with young people
  • Map and quantify voluntary and statutory youth provision within Perth and Kinross 
  • Work with groups and organisations to explore practice, develop new work and communicate and share ideas
  • Identify potential collaborations and partnerships within organisations that work with young people – positive destinations; training and personal development of young people; linkages; identifying and addressing organisational development of lead organisations (and risks to sustainability)
  • Identify gaps where the Trust could add value by investing in local communities
  • Develop project proposals, implementation plans and budgets 
  • Contribute to a clear exit strategy for the secondment – options, proposals, plans, relationships and budgets
  • Develop ways of monitoring and evaluating the impact of the Trust’s Community Development
  • Ensure that throughout the work programmes, a clear audit trail of activities is maintained
  • Seek advice and guidance from professional experts where appropriate
  • Contribute to the preparation and implementation of the Trust’s strategic plan
  • Prepare reports on all aspects of the work
  • Deputise for the CEO as and when required with regard to Community Development
