Celebrating TEN YEARS of CHEX and CHEX-Point Newsletter

The report of the CHEX National Conference and the Spring issue of our CHEX-Point newsletter are now available!  Both publications celebrate 10 years of CHEX’s role and its impact on promoting and supporting community-led health approaches to health improvement.

The report of CHEX's first National Conference - which took place last November - revisits the highlights of the day, summarises the presentations from all contributors and documents the outcomes of the delegates' discussions that will contribute to the future development of the CHEX Network.  Download the report here.

An exciting outcome from the Conference was the emergence of a new group of community-led health organisations coming together to promote community-led health.  The ‘Communities for Health Advisory Group’ have since met on three occasions to clarify their role and potential contribution to the national arena on tackling health inequalities. If you are a community-led health organisation interested in joining the group, please contact Elspeth Gracey on elspeth@scdc.org.uk.

The latest issue of our CHEX-Point Newsletter provides a platform for organisations connected to CHEX to reflect on the last 10 years, communicate an analysis from involvement and exchange learning and thoughts for the future.  Articles spotlight CHEX and CHEX-Point's role in the addressing the challenges of today’s health inequalities and include contributions from:

  • Graham Robertson, Chief Executive of NHS Health Scotland, who highlights CHEX’s role on the national arena;
  • Christine Caldwell and Linda Arthur, members of the CHEX Advisory Committee, who talk candidly about the challenges for community-led health organisations in today’s health improvement agenda; and
  • Kate Marshall, who highlights the role of ‘Health Issues in the Community’ in providing a learning route for local people to get involved in health issues at a local level.
