Health Issues in the Community - In Practice
On this page we will feature examples of how HIIC has been delivered across the country. This will include some course reports from tutors so if you are keen to share what you've done with the wider network please contact us and we'll put it on here.
Some examples of Courses that have been delivered recently are:
- A Part 1 course for young people in Lochaber. This was organised and delivered by Nigel Patterson (nigel.patterson@barnardos.org.uk) and Shirley Patterson (shirley.patterson@careers-scotland.org.uk) who have pioneered use of HIIC with young people in the Fort William area. The full report can be found here.
- Sandra King (sandra@helpp.org.uk) and Lydia Kerr delivered a Part 1 Course in Dalkeith, Midlothian in 2006. The course aimed to support the development of a Community Health Action Group in the Mayfield area of Dalkeith.
- In the early part of 2006, Fiona Burrell (fiona.burrell@virgin.net) and Anne-Marie McKay (areemckay@ambm.freeserve.co.uk) were commissioned by Keeping Well in Greater Govan to run a full HIIC course. The report of this course provides an informative and enlightening account of their experience.
- In 2006, Margaret MacDonald (whitecraigcec@yahoo.co.uk) and Pamela Martin (wallyfordcec@yahoo.co.uk) delivered a full course with adult learners in Musselburgh. Their course report gives an interesting perspective on both the benefits and challenges of full course delivery.
