To support Healthy Living Centres Health Scotland successfully tendered for resources to provide an HLC Support Programme on behalf of the Big Lottery Fund.  The programme was established in April 2005, and is responding to key issues facing HLCs. There are three main elements to the Support Programme: A networking and capacity building programme; Planning and Evaluation Support; and a strategic development and sustainability.

The first two elements of the contract are subcontracted to the Scottish Community Development Centre and subsequently on to CHEX and the LEAP Support Unit.  The third element of the contract is managed through The Community and Voluntary Sector Team within Health Scotland.

The overall aim of the Support Programme is to provide support to HLCs in Scotland which will assist them to develop practice, influence policy and promote local models of partnership working to improve health and tackle health inequalities.
